In a few years, the sun, wind, water and biogas should provide us with all of our energy. But the envisaged energy turnaround is not making good progress. The slow progress is often homemade.
If more electricity is generated with the sun and wind than is currently required, the systems are switched off. But the German law on renewable energy (EEG law), network charges and electricity tax make it in Germany uneconomical to store electricity from renewable energies or to use it to generate heat. Many resources remain unused.
